Monika Wanyura-Kurosad
Printmaker, film set decorator. Graduated at the Faculty of Graphic Arts of Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, Branch in Katowice. Diploma with the distinction at Studio of Intaglio headed by prof. Stanisław Kluska and Studio of Painting headed by prof. Jacek Rykała in 1996. She works at the Department of Scenography at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków.
She works with graphic art, drawing, scenography, art installation. Her art works are inspired by poetry, spaces of memory and time, the experience of a metaphorical journey through life. She creates multi-element drawings with open compositions, art installations, objects. She combines drawing and graphics with metal construction into artistic installations. Painting in her concept is thinking about space touched by color. In digital graphics, light and interpenetrating spatial structures are an important issue. She is interested in the subject of the passing of time, shaping space through light and colors. Abstraction is her favorite language of artistic expression.
She has presented works at several individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad, and at over 130 exhibitions in Belgium, Canada, Italy, Japan, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Spain, USA. Her works are in the collections of the National Museum in Kraków, the Silesian Museum in Katowice, the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology in Kraków, the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, the Osten Museum of Drawing in Skopje, the Art Museum Cluj–Napoca in Cluj, Brita Prinz ARTE in Madrid, and in private collections.
Set designer and film set decorator. She has realized TV theatre spectacles, feature series, documentary-feature films and theatre spectacles. Among productions, it is worth mentioning the historical series Stulecie Winnych, season II and III, directed by M. Rogalski, P. Śliskowski and K. Kochańska, the series Lokatorka II directed by M. Otłowski, the TV theatre Chłopcy directed by R. Gliński, the TV theatre Kriton directed by D. Karłowicz, the documentary-feature film Sister. Anna Rydlówna jakiej nie znamy, directed by M. Guzy.
Curator of exhibitions of Polish and world graphic art. Prepared over 40 exhibitions of graphic art at the International Centre of Graphic Arts in Krakow, the Manngha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology in Krakow, the Jagiellonian Library, the Dalarnas Museum in Falun and other institutions. Secretary and Vice-President of the Board of the International Print Triennial Association in Krakow in the years 2008–2016. Curator and scenographer of exhibitions, including the exhibition of Józef Słania for the 100th anniversary of his birth at the National Bank of Poland in Krakow, Józef Szajna for the 100th anniversary of his birth at the Ludowy Theatre in Krakow and the Theatre Institute in Warsaw, Young Polish Scenography as part of the Quadrennial of Scenography in Prague.
