"In my work I focus on sculpture and drawing. These different means of expression, by their dissimilarity, allow me as an artist to experiment with different forms of expression. In the process of sculpting, I try to 'listen' to the material in question so that the result emphasises its nature, and understanding the biological structures of the material enables me to control the chance that enriches the final form of the object. In drawing, on the other hand, the whiteness and silence of the page is calming. It allows you to clear your mind of unnecessary, tormenting thoughts and completely absorbs me. I am committed to clear, lucid expression, space, purity and delicacy of forms and the sensibility of my drawings allows me frequent understatement, which opens the way for suggestion and free interpretation."

"Matter is elemental and violent, continuous and unlimited, substantial, dense, liquid, capricious and ephemeral," said Professor Bogusz Salwiński. This understanding of matter, with all its vehemence, its own vitality and autonomy, can be seen in the work of Dawid Królicki, his former graduate student. Creativity Królicki encourages vigilance and attentiveness to chance, a potential source of discovery. As he says, he 'listens' to the material he works with, trying to understand its biological structure. The understanding between the artist and the material allows control over the accident, which becomes an integral part of the
works.

The works on display draw attention to the form-forming and meaning-forming power of decay. Destruction has its energy and internal tensions, provoking the emergence of the new. The possibility of being is inscribed in it. In the Ekspozom object, the multi-elementality and dynamics of destruction causes the work to take on a new form in each space, which the creator cannot fully control. In the Reconstructions series, discarded objects of a personal nature, remnants of decay, provoke the artist to attempt to resurrect the material and discover its mystery.

In most of the forms we find references to the progress of civilisation. We can observe the clash between matter from nature and steel - a product of technology, which, on the one hand, heralds development, on the other, entangles and takes over.
Man-made matter is a continuation and reflection of the natural materials it tries to capture. Królicki confronts us with the question of whether progress brings us closer to knowing the essence of things or makes us wander even further in the world of matter. At the same time, he directs the viewer's attention beyond the reality we know - towards the space of the cosmos, eternity or the absolute.

In Dawid Królicki's objects, disintegration and reconstruction are organised by lines; the author sees them as a construct of the sculpture's matter. The line thus becomes a spatial element, the boundary between sculpture and drawing is blurred. The exhibition presents works from different stages of creation. It shows the author's journey, from attempts to grapple with the space of the body, through immersion in destruction, to taking up the challenge of reconstruction - of memories, symbol or form itself. The latter are a foreshadowing of the activities undertaken by the artist as part of his PhD."
