Rafał Ziembiński
A graduate of the Faculty of Interior Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. Master's degree completed under the supervision of prof. Barbara Borkowska-Larysz in 1991. He has been associated with his alma mater since 1994, where for many years he has run the 2nd Interior Design Studio implementing his own teaching programme based on the experience of combining freehand drawing and its sensitivity with digital graphics and design.
Interior designer, educator and creator. He deals with broadly understood interior design, both private and public, and many of his projects have been featured in top industry publications. At the same time he deals with drawing, photography and digital graphics. His creative output includes more than 80 interior designs and realisations at home and abroad. He has participated in more than a dozen individual and group exhibitions.
As a creator, I deal with issues combining the experience of the world in relation to the art of space design, the connection between observation and the transposition of its effects into free, abstract drawing and photography, and then into the creation of interiors based on strict rules of use.
I have been developing drawing for years as a form that changes from a purely utilitarian and informative character into an independent entity creating a narrative language at the level of abstraction.

The "Strefa" Art Gallery has been operating since 2013.
Throughout its history, back when it was still known as inAW Gallery, many exhibitions of individual Artists, Designers and our Educators were held, as well as many collective exhibitions connected directly to the Department's activities. .
The program council consisted of members of the Department of Fine Arts, chaired by Prof. Ewa Kutermak-Madej, the first curator of the Gallery, who was replaced in subsequent years by Dr. Michał Misiak, a professor from the Academy of Fine Arts.
In October 2020, Dr. Tomasz Westrych took over as artistic curator and manager of the Gallery, on whose initiative it was decided to give the gallery space a new identifying face, distinguishing the exhibition area, installing a lighting system and giving it a new name: ZONE - WAW ART GALLERY. The art zone also gained its own graphic symbol, which was selected during a competition organized among students in the Graphic Design Studio under the supervision of Dr. Wojciech Kapela. The author of the winning logo is student Katarzyna Jasińska.
The nature of the program of organized exhibitions has been and will be closely related to the specificity of WAW, particularly emphasizing artistic meetings with broadly understood thinking about space; taking into account in the exhibition part the role of the contemporary artist's workshop and its originality.
